About this Speaker

Dr. Irwin (or Marsha) is a Registered Nurse with a master’s degree in Education and a PhD in Health Services.

She served in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps for 9 years and the Texas Air National Guard for 3 years. 

In 2015 the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services honored Dr. Irwin with the “Texas Vision Award” for her volunteer work educating Texas communities on aging, brain health, Alzheimer’s and dementia, CPR, and preparing for emergencies and disasters. 

She is a retired professor of nursing and Curriculum Coordinator for Lone Star College and a past Hospice nurse and Hospice Administrator.  

Since her retirement in 2015, she has served as an Alzheimer’s Association Support Group Facilitator in Willis, TX.

Marsha was the caregiver for her mother who died of Alzheimer’s in 2018.
